Head of Design (SaaS)

Location: Remote-only and global; ideal working hours align with European or North American time zones up to the East Coast.

Salary: USD 171,000–218,900 total cash budget per year, depending on seniority and cost of living. Additional equity and performance-based units may apply.

What you will do

• Set the overall design vision and quality standard for the platform in alignment with long-term company strategy.
• Lead high-stakes design work hands-on, from discovery and research through briefing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and shipped features.
• Own the design language, style guide, and component library as the product and team grow.
• Build and lead a lean, AI-leveraged product design team, directing work and maintaining quality control.
• Develop designers through direct feedback, hiring, and high expectations.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to decide what to build and use research, analytics, experimentation, and customer feedback to measure impact.

Requirements

• Experience setting the quality bar at a product-led SaaS company within the last five years.
• End-to-end ownership of design direction, from discovery through shipped features, with evidence of product impact.
• Recent hands-on product design experience; the role is a player-coach position rather than a manager-of-managers role.
• Strong research, briefing, product thinking, and collaboration skills with Product and Engineering leadership.
• High ownership and comfort working with a lean setup, modern AI tooling, and low bureaucracy.
• Proficiency with Figma and Whimsical.

• Experience in short-term rentals, travel, hospitality, or proptech.
