Senior State Estimation Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Remote within the United States, with reporting to Mountain View, California three times a week for employees living within a 50-mile radius; the role also references Sunnyvale, California. Travel required up to 25%.

Salary: $170,600–$261,300 per year, plus potential bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, and deploy state estimation, localization, and sensor calibration solutions.
• Architect complex projects for scalable, robust, and safety-critical real-time onboard operation.
• Develop multi-sensor self-calibration, state estimation architectures, and fault-tolerance strategies for unstructured environments.
• Integrate localization and sensor alignment capabilities into autonomous vehicle systems with multidisciplinary engineering groups.
• Provide technical mentorship, influence engineering practices, and shape technical roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of experience developing and deploying state estimation or sensor calibration systems for real-time onboard applications.
• Expertise in sensor calibration, state estimation, and/or localization across varied sensor inputs in safety-critical systems.
• Strong software engineering skills in C++ and Python, including development, integration, and testing.
• Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and technical leadership abilities.

Nice to have

• AV/ADAS experience.
• Master’s or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant state estimation or sensor calibration experience.
