Senior Engineer, AI Developer Tools (Remote)

Salary: $145,000–$185,000 annually, plus variable compensation and equity options.

What you will do

• Design, build, and own AI-driven internal developer platforms and tools for code review, test generation, migration automation, and CI/CD assistance.
• Lead AI-powered refactoring and modernization of monolithic platform components, including initiatives such as AWS SDK migrations and Java 21 upgrades.
• Develop AI-enhanced code review and test automation to improve coverage, reduce QA bottlenecks, and increase release quality.
• Establish AI scorecards, adoption KPIs, and engineering metrics covering delivery speed, code quality, bug rates, and review cycle times.
• Evaluate and integrate generative AI technologies while defining orchestration, governance, guardrails, and reusable development workflows.
• Provide technical leadership, communicate strategic decisions to senior stakeholders, and drive multi-week implementations across the R&D organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years leading internal tooling, platform engineering, or modernization efforts.
• Proven experience delivering AI-powered developer tools with measurable impact on engineering velocity and quality.
• Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, including Java, TypeScript, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong architecture and system design skills, including build-versus-buy decisions and scaling tools across organizations.
• Experience solving complex, undefined problems and influencing technical decisions in enterprise-scale engineering environments.
• Experience evaluating AI tools and models for quality, cost, latency, security, and workflow fit; familiarity with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, AWS Q, or similar platforms.
