Staff Data Engineer (AI)

A product company building a jobs, skills, and tasks data platform for talent lifecycle management, workforce planning, recruitment, mobility, and AI-powered workforce strategy.

What you will do

• Own the multi-quarter technical strategy and long-term architecture for the data platform.
• Design analytics, semantic, and AI data layers for BI, self-service, and AI consumers.
• Define data modelling conventions, architectural patterns, and data contracts for adoption across teams.
• Set standards for observability, data quality, SLAs, incident response, and platform reliability.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with Engineering, Product, Design, platform teams, principal engineers, and data scientists.
• Mentor senior engineers and lead root-cause analysis and systemic improvements for major incidents.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience building and operating data platforms for internal and external consumers.
• Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, real-time and batch processing, and distributed multi-tenant systems.
• Strong background in dbt, SQL or NoSQL storage, schema design, data modelling, and multi-tenant isolation.
• Experience with Python backend engineering, streaming pipelines, CDC, replayability, and data evolution.
• Experience with data quality, validation, testing, data contracts, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and containerisation, including Terraform and Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Typescript and Node.js backend experience.
• Experience modelling data for AI and agentic workloads.
