TL;DR
Staff Android Developer – Infotainment (Android Automotive): Designing and building in-vehicle Android applications and platform components for infotainment experiences with an accent on Android architecture, automotive platform integration, performance, and reliability. Focus on evolving AAOS/AOSP systems, solving complex framework and hardware issues, leading platform upgrades, and building robust automated testing and observability for resource-constrained environments.
Location: Hybrid in Markham, Ontario; attendance at the Markham Elevation Center at least three times per week
Salary: $147,000–$196,600 per year

What you will do
- Design, implement, deploy, and maintain complex Android infotainment features and services.
- Define application and system architectures across modular Android applications and services.
- Investigate and resolve issues across the Android framework, vehicle services, vendor stacks, and hardware constraints.
- Collaborate with Product, UX, Systems, Platform, DevOps, QA, and external partners to translate requirements into robust designs.
- Drive performance, stability, observability, testability, platform upgrades, and toolchain improvements.
- Mentor engineers and lead design reviews, debugging practices, and cross-team technical alignment.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of professional Android development experience shipping and operating complex production applications or system components.
- Strong Kotlin and Java skills; familiarity with C++ or Golang for performance-critical and legacy components.
- Deep knowledge of Android internals, application architecture, concurrency, multi-process and multi-user behavior, MVVM, and Clean Architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Android Automotive, AAOS/AOSP, CarService, VHAL/CarProperty, vehicle signals, and infotainment stacks.
- Experience with modular Gradle codebases, Android SDK/NDK tooling, AOSP-style trees, platform upgrades, CI pipelines, and automated testing.

Nice to have
- Experience with Google Automotive Services, certification requirements, or CTS/VTS/XTS test suites.
- Background in safety- or security-sensitive domains.
- Experience with virtualization or bench-based infotainment development and testing.
- Experience with Filament, Unreal, Unity, OpenGL ES, or Vulkan.
