Senior Engineering Manager (Media Infrastructure)

Location: US remote eligible; must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Occasional office work or offsite attendance may be required.

Base pay: $248,000–$310,000 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

What you will do

• Set technical strategy and architecture for media infrastructure across multiple teams.
• Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior technical leads.
• Partner with Product, Design, Trust, Data Science, and Infrastructure teams on the media platform roadmap.
• Own the reliability, scalability, modernization, and evolution of systems supporting photo, video, and document interactions.
• Drive operational excellence, resolve systemic technical debt, and support high-quality delivery.
• Retain, grow, and hire diverse engineering and management talent.

Requirements

• 12+ years of industry experience, including 6+ years in engineering management.
• Experience managing other managers or senior technical leads.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems and cross-team technical strategy and architecture.
• Experience leading and shipping large, cross-team initiatives with significant business impact.
• Strong communication, product judgment, talent development, and organizational leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Media or content infrastructure experience, including ingestion, processing, storage, and CDN delivery.
