What you will do

• Own the technical delivery of sprint commitments, ensuring accurate estimation and rapid blocker resolution.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner to translate the roadmap into a realistic technical plan.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing to eliminate single-owner components.
• Design and maintain backend services and APIs using PHP and Symfony, remaining hands-on in the code.
• Drive modernization on AWS, implementing containerized workloads and serverless services like Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
• Manage the MySQL data layer, designing schemas and optimizing slow queries via EXPLAIN plans.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading teams or workstreams, driving delivery, and making technical decisions.
• Hands-on experience building production applications with PHP, MySQL, Symfony, and Doctrine.
• Real-world experience running applications on AWS, including production debugging with CloudWatch.
• Solid REST API design skills (GraphQL experience is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of MySQL production workloads and query optimization.
• Experience with automated testing in PHP using phpspec and Behat.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven patterns using RabbitMQ, Redis, SQS, SNS, or EventBridge.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK or CloudFormation).
• Experience integrating with Auth0 or similar identity platforms.
• Understanding of GDPR and secure handling of sensitive data.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents or spec-first workflows.
