Resident Engineer, Mechanical Integration (Automotive)

Location: Nagoya, Aichi, Japan; office, manufacturing facility, and client-site work required

What you will do

• Provide customer-facing technical support for mechanical products throughout pursuit, development, validation, release, and production launch.
• Manage mechanical data releases through customer PDM, PLM, database, and internal product release systems.
• Support customer engineering operations, change management, technical requirements, responses, and approval tracking.
• Maintain customer test benches with current product samples and troubleshoot issues in test benches, vehicles, and manufacturing plants.
• Analyze warranty parts and provide field or dealership technical support as needed.
• Lead the mechanical integration of products into customer vehicles.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of customer-facing or design engineering experience, or equivalent, with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical products, customer-specific PDM and PLM systems, and databases.
• Experience with mechanical CAD, specifically CATIA V5.
• Ability to complete administrative activities supporting product development, testing, and product release.
• Experience solving complex technical issues involving electronics or mechanical products integrated into vehicles.
• Ability to communicate and coordinate complex technical concepts with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• Previous customer-facing, application, or design engineering experience with automotive electronics products.
• Direct experience with the applicable customer.
