Senior Java Software Engineer (Market Surveillance)

Location: Sydney, Australia; hybrid work with at least 2 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and implement solutions for the hirify.global Market Surveillance platform.
• Review system requirements, business processes, and software design requirements.
• Prepare technical specifications, project estimates, schedules, test plans, and code reviews.
• Identify and resolve technical issues while supporting challenging application development assignments.
• Contribute to IT strategy, system development, and client integration services.
• Mentor engineers and promote system improvements, efficiency, and adoption of current industry practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with Java.
• Full working rights in Australia are required; applicants must hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Strong business acumen, financial understanding, critical-thinking skills, and professional association membership.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial institutions, fintech, or capital markets.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
