TL;DR

Red Hat Infrastructure Architect (OpenStack/OpenShift Virtualization): Architecting and leading the migration from legacy VMware environments to modern Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift (RHOSO) and OpenShift Virtualization with an accent on target-state network/storage architecture, migration runbooks, and production cutover execution. Focus on solving complex enterprise migration blockers, establishing Day 2 operations and HA control planes, and presenting risk and licensing tradeoffs to executive leadership.

What you will do

• Evaluate RHOSO vs OpenShift Virtualization and recommend target architectures based on workload profiles and infrastructure goals.
• Design target-state infrastructure including Neutron/OVN or OpenShift SDN networking, Ceph/Cinder or CSI-backed storage, multi-tenancy, and high-availability control planes.
• Define migration strategy and sequencing (pilot selection, wave planning, fallback procedures, and cutover windows) and execute migrations using Red Hat migration tooling (MTV or Ansible-based VMware migration playbooks).
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical migration blockers across networking, storage dependencies, and legacy application constraints.
• Set Day 2 operations guidelines (patching, automated backups, DR, capacity management, monitoring) and mentor teams executing migration waves.
• Produce migration runbooks and knowledge transfer plans, and communicate progress, risks, and licensing cost-avoidance considerations to executive leadership.

Requirements

• Location: Fully Remote - US
• 8+ years of infrastructure/virtualization engineering experience, including 3+ years hands-on with Red Hat OpenStack Platform (RHOSO) and/or OpenShift Virtualization.
• Led at least one large-scale VMware-to-Red Hat migration in a production enterprise environment (e.g., telecom/ISP or highly regulated industries).
• Deep expertise in OpenStack core services: Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone, and Glance.
• Strong Kubernetes/OpenShift fundamentals, including experience with OpenShift operators.
• Expertise in SDN (OVN, Neutron, VLAN/overlay design) and storage architectures (Ceph, Cinder-backed, or enterprise CSI-backed storage), plus RHEL administration and Ansible automation.

Nice to have

• Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or equivalent certification.
• Experience in telecommunications/ISP or network operations environments.
• Experience building VMware license cost-avoidance business cases and licensing models.
• Familiarity with GPU/accelerator virtualization for AI and high-performance workloads.
• Experience integrating virtualization platforms with enterprise IAM and security frameworks.
