What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across the platform team, guiding decisions and raising engineering standards through example.
• Evaluate and challenge architectural decisions, identifying risks early and proposing corrective paths.
• Develop and optimize modern backend services using Python, APIs, and microservices.
• Support modernization efforts, balancing new cloud architecture with legacy and on-prem constraints in a financial industry setting.
• Communicate technical decisions and standards through ADRs and RFCs.
• Utilize AI tools extensively for PoCs, code reviews, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer, leading through influence and consensus.
• Strong architectural judgment with a track record of validating complex technical decisions.
• Deep technical expertise in either modern backend engineering (Python, APIs, CI/CD) or the modern data stack (dbt, Redshift, Data Mesh).
• Active integration of AI tools into the daily professional engineering workflow.
• Strong interpersonal and political skills to co-create solutions with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience documenting technical standards via ADRs and RFCs.

Nice to have

• Experience with both backend engineering and the full modern data stack.
• Knowledge of Internal Developer Platforms (e.g., Backstage, NullPlatform).
• Experience with AI/LLM platforms.
• Strong DevOps knowledge, specifically within the AWS ecosystem.
• Previous experience working in the banking or financial services industry.
