Director Engineering, Platform (AWS/GCP): Leading a unified developer platform and core cloud infrastructure that enables over 4,000 engineers to build, deploy, and operate resilient software with an accent on platform-as-a-product practices, multi-cloud architecture, and engineering organization leadership. Focus on designing self-service golden paths, scaling a global platform organization, optimizing infrastructure costs, and rolling out secure AWS/GCP capabilities.
Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with face-to-face collaboration at the Berlin campus 2 days a week

What you will do
- Lead Global Developer Engineering within the Tech Foundations vertical.
- Own the unified developer platform and core infrastructure capabilities supporting more than 4,000 software engineers.
- Define platform and infrastructure strategy, manage budgets, optimize costs, and demonstrate ROI to executive stakeholders.
- Drive a platform-as-a-product approach with self-service capabilities and golden paths that improve developer experience.
- Lead, scale, and mentor a global organization of more than 50 platform engineers across major hubs including Berlin and Barcelona.
- Oversee the architecture and rollout of secure, automated AWS and GCP infrastructure and microservices tooling.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering, including 5+ years in web-scale platform engineering.
- Experience building, scaling, and driving adoption of unified developer platforms in large, complex, or distributed organizations.
- Deep familiarity with cloud-native microservices, event-driven architectures, containerization, and observability frameworks.
- Technical proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go and strong experience with AWS and GCP infrastructure.
- 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles at Director level or above, managing multiple teams of teams and serving internal customers.
- Strong communication, influencing, business acumen, infrastructure budget management, and cost-optimization skills.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical engineering background.
