Platform Engineer (AI Platform)

Location: Cologne, Germany; remote work is possible, with the option to work from anywhere in the EU for up to 20 days per year.

What you will do

• Build, configure, and maintain Azure platform infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Operate and improve Azure Databricks, including automation, monitoring, access management, and troubleshooting.
• Manage and scale Kubernetes-based Data and AI services using GitOps and CI/CD workflows.
• Develop reusable automation and self-service capabilities for engineering, Data, and AI teams.
• Monitor platform health, resolve operational issues, and escalate complex problems when needed.
• Collaborate with Platform, Data, AI, MLOps, and Security colleagues on architecture, documentation, and engineering improvements.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
• Practical experience with containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, deployment pipelines, and Git-based delivery workflows.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving common production or platform issues independently.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, Go, or Shell for infrastructure automation.
• Understanding of Data, Machine Learning, or AI workloads and the infrastructure supporting them.
• Fluent English is required; German is not required but is an advantage.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Helm.
• Experience with Azure Databricks or similar Data and AI platforms.
• German language skills.
