Senior Manager, Simulation (Robotics): Build and lead a greenfield simulation team that owns simulation software foundations, with an accent on physics simulation, hardware abstraction, and sim-to-real transfer. Location: Hybrid (3 days on-site per week) or fully remote (U.S.-based; offices in Fremont, CA, Salem, OR, or Pittsburgh, PA)
Salary: $208,000–$324,000 USD

What you will do
- Build and lead a new Simulation team from the ground up, including defining scope, hiring engineers, and establishing team culture and practices
- Architect and own the hardware abstraction layer connecting sensors, actuators, and physical hardware to simulation environments
- Develop and integrate physics simulators using open-source frameworks, focusing on fidelity, performance, and sim-to-real transfer
- Partner with AI, Controls, Perception Sensors, Hardware Interfaces, and Systems Integration teams to support new robot development and capability expansion
- Define simulation success metrics (tooling, workflows, coverage, and metrics) and drive the team to deliver them
- Develop engineers through clear expectations, growth opportunities, and building a high-performing team
Requirements
- U.S. work authorization required; role is U.S.-based
- 10+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years in robotics
- Hands-on experience building or leading simulation infrastructure
- Proficiency in modern C++ and Python
- Experience with at least one major robotics physics simulator (MuJoCo, IsaacSim, Gazebo, or similar)
- Familiarity with standard software practices: Git, CI/CD, Jira (or equivalent), and feature branching
