What you will do

• Build and lead a new Simulation team from the ground up, including defining scope, hiring engineers, and establishing team culture and practices
• Architect and own the hardware abstraction layer connecting sensors, actuators, and physical hardware to simulation environments
• Develop and integrate physics simulators using open-source frameworks, focusing on fidelity, performance, and sim-to-real transfer
• Partner with AI, Controls, Perception Sensors, Hardware Interfaces, and Systems Integration teams to support new robot development and capability expansion
• Define simulation success metrics (tooling, workflows, coverage, and metrics) and drive the team to deliver them
• Develop engineers through clear expectations, growth opportunities, and building a high-performing team

Requirements

• U.S. work authorization required; role is U.S.-based
• 10+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years in robotics
• Hands-on experience building or leading simulation infrastructure
• Proficiency in modern C++ and Python
• Experience with at least one major robotics physics simulator (MuJoCo, IsaacSim, Gazebo, or similar)
• Familiarity with standard software practices: Git, CI/CD, Jira (or equivalent), and feature branching
