Manufacturing Engineer (Maritime Defense)

Location: Torrance, CA; on-site on the production floor. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain required export authorizations without sponsorship is required for access to information protected under U.S. export control laws.

Salary: $150,000–$175,000 per year; base salary only. Equity and benefits are additional components of total compensation.

What you will do

• Work with technicians and design engineers on the production floor to improve buildability and product execution.
• Translate EBOMs into MBOMs and routings, and create work instructions, fixtures, and tooling.
• Define and adjust assembly work centers using takt time, work content, and station balancing as build rates increase.
• Provide DFM feedback before part release and identify and resolve product and process deficiencies.
• Define quality requirements and inspection criteria for new and evolving assemblies.
• Design production tooling, jigs, and fixtures for precision assembly and test.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or a similar engineering discipline.
• Strong DFM fundamentals.
• Proficiency creating MBOMs from EBOMs.
• Hands-on approach and comfort working both on the production floor and at a workstation.

Nice to have

• High familiarity with electrical and mechanical assembly, plastic part manufacture, and/or PCB manufacture.
• Startup or collegiate team project experience, such as Formula SAE or Rocket Club.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Experience designing production tooling.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience or certification.
