TL;DR

Manufacturing Engineer: Scaling development builds into low-volume manufacture by translating lab-ready designs into repeatable assembly processes with an accent on DFM feedback, MBOM/EBOM-to-work-instructions workflows, and precision tooling. Focus on defining work centers, inspection criteria, and quality requirements while driving fixes for product and process deficiencies found on the production floor.

Location: Torrance, CA (on-site, working directly on the production floor)

Salary: $150,000-$175,000 per year

Company

AndrenaM builds sonar and sensing systems for the maritime domain.

What you will do

  • Work with technicians and design engineers on the floor to close the gap between design intent and build requirements.
  • Translate EBOMs into MBOMs and routings; own work instructions, fixtures, and tooling needed for correct first-time builds.
  • Define and adjust assembly work centers using takt time, work content, and station balancing as build rates increase.
  • Provide DFM feedback to design engineers before parts are released to prevent build issues.
  • Identify product and process deficiencies on the floor and drive corrective actions (design changes, new fixtures, or revised work instructions).
  • Define and implement quality requirements and inspection criteria for new and evolving assemblies; design production tooling, jigs, and fixtures.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Strong DFM (Design for Manufacture) fundamentals.
  • Proficiency creating MBOMs from EBOMs.
  • Hands-on approach; comfortable working both on the production floor and at a workstation.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. authorizations without sponsorship for export-license requirements.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical assembly, plastic part manufacture, and/or PCB manufacture.
  • Startup or collegiate team project experience (e.g., Formula SAE, Rocket Club).
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Experience designing production tooling.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience or certification.

Culture & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and long-term equity incentive program.
  • Flexible PTO and paid holidays.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401k retirement plan.
  • Lunch and snacks provided in office.
  • On-site work environment blending technology, maritime, and defense.

Hiring process

  • Application submission with screening questions (including U.S. work authorization/sponsorship needs).
  • Subsequent interview steps to evaluate fit for on-floor manufacturing and DFM responsibilities.
