What you will do

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable backend services using Scala.
• Lead performance optimization initiatives across large-scale applications and services.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues affecting system performance and user experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement effective technical solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices and continuous improvement of the platform.
• Support onboarding and mentoring by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.

Requirements

• Significant commercial experience in Scala backend development at Principal, Staff, or Lead Engineer level.
• Strong background in performance tuning, scalability, and optimization of large-scale systems.
• Proven ability to anticipate, analyze, and solve complex technical challenges.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing high-quality backend applications.
• Good command of English (min. B2).
• Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have

• Experience applying GenAI in structured SDLC workflows (prompt patterns, tool integrations).
• Interest in emerging AI-driven practices (agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development).
