Senior Elasticsearch Engineer (Elasticsearch)

What you will do

• Own the full lifecycle of Elasticsearch and OpenSearch clusters, including capacity planning and cluster architecture.
• Handle incident response, shard allocation, and performance optimization for high-throughput data streams.
• Manage disk watermarks, retention policies, and rollover orchestration for multi-terabyte indices.
• Execute the migration strategy from Elasticsearch to OpenSearch and manage version upgrades with zero downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on index design, mapping strategies, and query optimization.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience operating multi-TB Elasticsearch clusters at scale.
• Deep knowledge of Elasticsearch internals (segment merging, translog, shard allocation).
• Production experience with ECK (Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes) and Kubernetes operations for stateful workloads.
• Strong Linux systems administration skills with a focus on storage and I/O performance.
• Proficiency in GitOps tools such as Helm and ArgoCD/Flux.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenSearch ISM policies and security plugins.
• Proficiency with Java JVM tuning (heap sizing, GC tuning).
• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and Fluentd/Fluent Bit pipelines.
• Python or scripting skills for operational automation.
