Salary: $160,000 – $220,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Develop and own a research agenda aligned with long-term company strategy.
• Design experiments to isolate meaningful contributions and develop novel architectures or training approaches.
• Produce peer-reviewed validation studies, patents, and evidence artifacts.
• Translate research findings into production-ready tools and methods.
• Advise engineering teams on technical decisions regarding model performance, uncertainty, and validation.
• Collaborate with clinical partners on validation studies and data governance.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to produce novel research and design rigorous experiments.
• Deep ML foundations with expertise in areas such as LLMs, agents, causality, or multimodal learning.
• Strong engineering ability to run experiments at scale.
• Understanding of healthcare validation standards, including IRB processes and prospective evaluation.
• Must be able to work from the office Monday through Thursday in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice to have

• First-author publications at top venues like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or clinical AI venues.
• Experience in research-heavy teams at AI-native healthcare companies.
• Dual literacy in machine learning and clinical collaboration.
