Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Networking): Designing and evolving cloud networking and infrastructure to support a global multi-region strategy with an accent on reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Location: Hybrid in Tokyo, Japan (Minato City)

What you will do
- Design and evolve cloud networking and infrastructure to support global and multi-region business strategies.
- Automate day-to-day platform operations to improve efficiency and reduce manual toil.
- Improve system security and reliability in close collaboration with SRE and Security teams.
- Develop internal tools and capabilities as a service to enhance platform operations.
- Manage the entire network stack, from edge CDNs to cloud service meshes (Istio) and physical data centers.
Requirements
- Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, OSI layers 4–7, cloud routing, CDN, DNS, TLS, HTTP).
- Production experience building and operating cloud networks using GCP or AWS.
- Production experience with Linux and Kubernetes networking.
- Expertise in network proxies (Envoy, HAProxy, Nginx) and service meshes like Istio.
- Ability to automate workflows using Go, Python, or Bash.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and technical design documentation.
- English: Proficient (C1) level required.
- Location: Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Tokyo, Japan.
Nice to have
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems consisting of hundreds of microservices.
- Experience architecting control planes, Kubernetes operators/CRDs, or service-as-a-platform APIs.
- Experience with agentic tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex.
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Argo CD.
- Japanese language proficiency.
