Senior Platform Infrastructure Engineer (DevOps)

Location: Hybrid (Minato City, Tokyo, Japan)

What you will do

• Manage GKE cluster lifecycle, including upgrades, node-pool strategies, and capacity planning.
• Develop and evolve Terraform IaC with custom modules and safe CI/CD rollout pipelines.
• Create self-service "kits" to automate the provisioning of repositories, PagerDuty, and deployment pipelines.
• Implement internal developer-platform components using Go, such as k8s controllers and APIs.
• Optimize autoscaling (HPA/VPA/Cluster Autoscaler) and multi-region node-pool strategies.
• Lead root-cause analysis and participate in the platform on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals (scheduler, controllers, admission webhooks) and managed environments (GKE, EKS, or AKS).
• Advanced proficiency with Terraform at scale, including custom module authoring and complex migrations.
• Strong fundamentals in system design, consistency, replication, and failure modes.
• English: Business level (B2) required.
• Location: Must be based in or able to work in Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid).

Nice to have

• Experience with Go for building CLI tools and internal APIs.
• Deep knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, CNI, mTLS, HTTP/2).
• Experience with CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization.
• Exposure to Elasticsearch or search infrastructure.
