Location: Hybrid (San Mateo, CA). Must have United States work authorization.

What you will do

• Serve as the hands-on tech lead for the Safety Foundation team, setting technical direction and driving execution.
• Lead the design of a scalable, cost-efficient platform engineered to handle 10x traffic growth.
• Architect AI-first safety workflows, integrating agentic and ML-driven systems with high reliability and auditability.
• Build a developer experience layer enabling product teams to integrate safety capabilities in hours.
• Define backend standards and raise the technical bar through rigorous code reviews and mentorship.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across networking, data, and compute at massive scale.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building large-scale backend and distributed systems.
• 4+ years of experience acting as a tech lead, driving execution and growing engineers.
• Deep proficiency in Go (strongly preferred) or similar compiled languages.
• Experience with NoSQL databases at scale, such as DynamoDB or Cassandra.
• Strong interest or experience in AI/ML platform integration (pipelines, agentic or HITL workflows).
• Must have valid United States work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience building developer platforms.
• Experience with CQRS and Event Sourcing.
