TL;DR
Software Engineering Manager (Data & Analytics): Leading the strategy and execution of data collection and reporting frameworks to power customer-facing insights with an accent on AI integration and scalable data architecture. Focus on designing the boundary between transactional and analytical data stores, building high-performing engineering teams, and ensuring data observability.

Location: Must be located in or near the Charlotte, NC metro area (Fully remote within this region)

What you will do

  • Define and drive the strategy for the company's analytical data infrastructure.
  • Design the boundary between transactional data stores and the analytical layer to ensure performance and maintainability.
  • Architect and own the reporting framework used by other engineering teams to embed analytics into product areas.
  • Build, hire, and lead a high-performing team of data and analytics engineers.
  • Establish data governance, quality standards, and observability pipelines with defined SLAs.
  • Partner with product leadership to translate business needs into a technical roadmap.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering, with at least 2 years in an engineering management or technical lead role.
  • Proven experience designing data infrastructure on AWS (Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redshift, S3).
  • Strong background in data modeling and ELT/ETL pipeline design.
  • Experience owning data pipeline observability, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Active use of AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) in daily development.
  • Must be located in or near the Charlotte, NC metro area.

Nice to have

  • Experience with embedded in-app analytics for SaaS products.
  • Familiarity with AWS event streaming (Kinesis, MSK, EventBridge, Kafka).
  • Experience with AWS Glue, Athena, or Lake Formation.
  • Experience at a B2B SaaS company with 50–200 employees.
  • Exposure to regulated environments such as SOC 2 or HIPAA.
