Corporate Counsel, Telecommunications & Regulatory (Telecommunications/Regulatory): Serving as the company’s primary legal authority for FCC and state PUC regulatory compliance across Dialpad’s UCaaS and CCaaS offerings with an accent on scalable compliance infrastructure, proactive legal guidance, and translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable product, engineering, and operational decisions. Focus on call recording consent, STIR/SHAKEN, TCPA/FTSA, A2P/P2P SMS compliance, and AI transparency/automated decision-making regulations.

Location: San Ramon, US

Salary: $169,000 - $214,000 USD (California target base salary range)

Company

hirify.global builds an AI-native business communications platform unifying calling, messaging, meetings, and contact center capabilities.

What you will do

  • Own telecommunications regulatory compliance for FCC and state PUC frameworks, including filing obligations, interconnection requirements, and active CPUC proceedings affecting California operations.
  • Advise on STIR/SHAKEN compliance, CLI masking authorizations, and Caller ID obligations under the Truth in Caller ID Act, including exposure identification and remediation strategy development.
  • Provide legal guidance on call recording consent law (CIPA/ECPA and two-party consent requirements), TCPA/FTSA exposure, and A2P/P2P SMS compliance (CTIA guidelines and FCC messaging rules).
  • Review AI-powered features (call transcription, real-time coaching, AI agents) for consent, disclosure, and compliance with state AI transparency and automated decision-making regulations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Privacy, and Security to resolve compliance issues before release and support customer contract and RFP responses.
  • Maintain a consent and disclosure matrix across U.S. jurisdictions and standardize legal research/monitoring using AI-powered legal tools.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years of legal experience with substantive telecommunications regulatory exposure from a law firm, carrier, UCaaS company, or regulatory agency; in-house experience at a SaaS or communications technology company is preferred.
  • Working familiarity with FCC rules and the Communications Act as applied to VoIP/cloud communications providers, including non-dominant interexchange carrier status implications.
  • Practical experience advising on call recording consent law (not only research).
  • Working knowledge of TCPA and FTSA to identify platform-level exposure from customer use cases and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and emerging state AI legislation, with willingness to deepen expertise as laws evolve.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Culture & Benefits

  • Competitive salary with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.
  • Work at the center of AI transformation in business communications.
  • Build and ship agentic AI products and use AI tools to amplify impact.
  • Inclusive offices and a robust training program to support development.
