Head of Platform: Traded (P&C Insurance)

Location: Boston, MA; hybrid work with 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Define and execute a multi-year modernization strategy for the traded application portfolio.
• Lead the evolution toward cloud-native, API-first, and event-driven architectures.
• Own engineering delivery, quality standards, release governance, production support, and operational resilience.
• Build and lead engineering, platform, QA, and delivery functions.
• Partner with underwriting, operations, data, architecture, finance, procurement, legal, and business leadership teams.
• Manage vendors, budgets, KPIs, regulatory controls, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership overseeing large-scale platforms.
• Experience modernizing complex legacy environments into cloud-native or hybrid architectures.
• Strong Property & Casualty insurance experience, preferably in traded or delegated authority business models.
• Experience leading teams responsible for QA, platform delivery, and application support.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, microservices architecture, and agile delivery models.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Insurity, QuikSolver4, or BrightCore.
• Experience with scaled delivery frameworks such as SAFe.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
