Director Of Engineering (AI)

Location: Must be based in the US

Salary: $220,000 – $250,000 plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of 18, including engineering managers, staff engineers, and QA.
• Partner with product and design to shape the roadmap and ensure engineering unblocks business goals.
• Provide architectural oversight to ensure systems are scalable, maintainable, and robust.
• Establish and scale engineering processes including sprint rhythms, incident response, and code standards.
• Champion AI-forward engineering by integrating AI tooling to improve developer velocity and product capability.
• Maintain a high bar for talent and foster a culture of continuous growth and high standards.

Requirements

• 7+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in engineering management.
• Experience managing managers or leading multiple teams.
• Strong full-stack background with proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, React, Postgres, and AWS.
• Proven track record of building and retaining high-performing teams in product-focused environments.
• Active experience using and implementing AI tools in engineering workflows.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to synthesize complexity for diverse stakeholders.
