Senior Fullstack Engineer (Mapping): Architecting and developing web services for the creation and maintenance of 3D HD maps with an accent on backend infrastructure and frontend visualization tools. Location: Foster City, CA (Hybrid)

Zoox is an autonomous vehicle company developing a fully autonomous, purpose-built vehicle fleet.
What you will do
- Architect and own backend services using FastAPI for HD mapping infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain frontend tools for map interaction using React, TypeScript, and Deck.gl.
- Automate complex workflows and data pipelines to support fleet scaling.
- Mentor team members on distributed systems and modern web technologies.
- Refactor existing codebases and establish engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Strong experience in backend development and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, and React.
- Knowledge of relational database design, specifically Postgres.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
- Experience with workflow automation tools like Airflow.
- Must be able to work in a hybrid capacity in Foster City, CA.
Nice to have
- Experience with FastAPI, Kubernetes, and ArgoCI.
- Knowledge of geospatial data and coordinate systems.
