VAT Operations Manager

Location: Must be based in the UK (Bristol). Role requires hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home.

What you will do

• Manage the monthly collation of business data into indirect tax reporting tools.
• Oversee the preparation, consolidation, and timely filing of quarterly UK indirect tax returns.
• Maintain the VAT governance framework, including SAO certification and business partnering.
• Provide VAT advice and training to internal teams to ensure accurate transaction coding.
• Drive process improvements by utilizing automation and new tax technology.
• Manage VAT tax risks and support tax audits.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of UK VAT legislation and indirect tax.
• Tax-qualified, HMRC-trained, or part/full qualified accountant status.
• Experience with accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics AX.
• Proven ability to manage complex tax issues and engage with senior stakeholders.
• Experience in driving tax process and control improvements.
• Must be based in the UK and able to work from the Bristol office 3 days per week.
