Chemistry Lab Supervisor (Environmental Compliance)

Location: Suzhou, China; on-premises laboratory and cross-functional work with suppliers, engineering teams, and third-party labs.

What you will do

• Lead material compliance testing and coordinate testing activities across functions and the supply chain.
• Identify and address material compliance risks, review substance test reports, and justify compliance findings.
• Manage the testing team, mentor new team members, and coordinate with suppliers, engineering stakeholders, and third-party laboratories.
• Calibrate equipment and perform gage R&R across the supply chain.
• Manage supplier due diligence, track new legislation, and develop material testing approaches.
• Improve testing procedures and system robustness while driving cost savings in third-party laboratory work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance programs.
• Strong knowledge of REACH, RoHS, EU POPs, and USA EPA TSCA compliance requirements.
• Experience identifying high-risk substances, materials, and components in electronic products.
• Understanding of materials testing methods including XRF, FTIR, and GC/LC-MS.
• Experience supporting ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environmental Management systems.
• Ability to work effectively as part of cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in data analysis and integration.
• Good English writing and reading skills.
