Senior Mechanisms Engineer (Turbomachinery): Designing and deploying precision turbomachinery for active thermal control systems in high-power spacecraft with an accent on pumped fluid loops, rotor dynamics, and high-volume manufacturing. Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must be a U.S. Person (Citizen, Green Card holder, etc.) for ITAR compliance.
Salary: $140,000 - $175,000 + equity

What you will do
- Design and analyze turbomachinery mechanisms for active thermal control systems, including architectural down-selection and tolerancing.
- Perform pump-specific analyses such as rotor dynamics, bearings, seals, and hydraulic performance.
- Develop environmental test and qualification plans as well as in-flight performance validation.
- Collaborate with thermal, avionics, and production teams to define system requirements and the long-term fluid-loop roadmap.
- Oversee the supply chain and high-volume manufacturing trades, including selecting specialty equipment.
- Create work instructions and end-of-line tests in partnership with the production team.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a relevant engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical design and analysis.
- 2+ years of specific experience in turbomachinery design for harsh environments.
- Proficiency with CAD and FEA software packages.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations.
Nice to have
- Experience with centrifugal or axial pumps for closed-loop thermal systems.
- Familiarity with NASA-STD-5017, SMC-S-016, and GSFC-STD-7000 standards.
- Expertise in bearing analysis, preload techniques, and practical application of GD&T.
- Proven ability to manage moving mechanism assemblies across the full product lifecycle.
