Product Engineer (Backend Rust)

Location: Paris, France; hybrid work with a relocation package

What you will do

• Design and build low-latency, highly reliable backend services in Rust for real-time policy checks at scale.
• Own features end-to-end, including API design, database schemas, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Improve system performance and reliability through connection pooling, caching, query optimization, and observability.
• Work across the stack when needed to solve product and engineering problems.
• Collaborate with product and research to turn requirements into production systems.

Requirements

• Experience building and shipping backend systems in Rust, Python, or Go.
• Experience with async Rust, including Tokio, and web frameworks such as Axum or Actix.
• Strong system design fundamentals, including reasoning about trade-offs, failure modes, and scaling.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, efficient queries, schema design, and performance debugging.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration skills.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with ClickHouse, Redis, or Kafka and event streaming.
• Experience with LLM infrastructure, including LLM routing, inference systems, or RAG architectures.
• Background in high-throughput monitoring systems or fintech.
