Salary: $90,000 – $200,000 + Equity

An AI Safety company building a reliability and optimization layer for AI systems, processing over 100 million API calls monthly.

What you will do

• Design and build low-latency backend services in Rust for real-time policy checks at scale.
• Own features end-to-end, from API design and database schemas to deployment and monitoring.
• Optimize system performance through connection pooling, caching strategies, and query optimization.
• Collaborate with product, research, and ML teams to turn requirements into production systems.
• Contribute across the stack to solve complex technical problems and improve observability.

Requirements

• Proven experience building and shipping production backend systems in Rust.
• Proficiency with async Rust (Tokio) and web frameworks such as Axum or Actix.
• Strong system design fundamentals and ability to reason about scaling, trade-offs, and failure modes.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, including efficient query writing and schema design.
• Fluent English proficiency.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Paris, France.

Nice to have

• Experience with ClickHouse, Redis, or Kafka/event streaming.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Helm.
• Background in fintech or high-throughput monitoring systems.
