Salary: $230,000 – $270,000 base + bonus and equity

What you will do

• Architect reliable, multi-turn agentic planning and execution state machines capable of self-correction and tool orchestration.
• Develop and own the secure execution sandbox layer for isolated, real-time model-generated code (Python).
• Design composable tool-calling integrations utilizing Model Context Protocol (MCP) and custom APIs.
• Establish programmatic evaluation frameworks and trajectory testing using LLM-as-a-judge.
• Optimize high-performance system components including latency, semantic caching, and streaming agent states.
• Bootstrap, hire, and mentor a small, elite squad of AI systems engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional engineering experience building and scaling backend systems or platform services.
• Hands-on experience building production-grade LLM applications and multi-agent workflows (DAGs or state machines).
• Deep expertise in secure sandboxed runtimes, container isolation (Docker, gVisor, WASM), and high-throughput streaming.
• Proven track record of leading high-velocity squads as a Tech Lead or TLM.
• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a quantitative field.
• Must be based in or able to work from the San Francisco office (Hybrid).
