What you will do

• Coordinate the receipt, processing, storage, and inventory tracking of biological specimens.
• Maintain laboratory logs, equipment upkeep, reagent preparation, and supply purchasing.
• Support project coordination by scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and tracking deliverables.
• Assist with conducting experiments, assays, and data collection/analysis.
• Prepare and maintain SOPs, ethics documentation, and research manuscripts.
• Provide guidance and training to research assistants and students on laboratory protocols.

Requirements

• High school graduation plus two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to work onsite at the BC Children Hospital Research Institute in Vancouver.
• Familiarity with biosafety practices and safe handling of biological specimens and chemicals.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple research projects and timelines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with investigators and collaborators.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in a research environment.

Nice to have

• Training in life sciences, public health, or related discipline.
• Experience with biobanking, chain-of-custody documentation, or LIMS.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as PCR, cell culture, or ELISA.
• Experience with research software like REDCap or data management tools.
