What you will do
- Own the full documentation lifecycle from drafting and review through negotiation, execution, and filing for ISDA/CSA, CDEA, GMRA, GMSLA and Master Confirmation Agreements for Equity Derivative products and related ancillary documents, including regulatory initial margin documents.
- Review legal opinions on netting and collateral enforceability and coordinate with external counsel.
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies outside a playbook to balance client and requirements.
- Independently lead complex and/or sensitive negotiations for high-profile clients.
- Partner with Franchise and Prime business stakeholders (including New Business Group and Client Services) and respond to master documentation queries from internal departments and the front office.
- Mentor junior team members and continuously challenge and improve existing controls/processes to manage risk and increase effectiveness.
Requirements
- Location: Hong Kong (office location)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or JD, with at least 4 years of experience in a Legal/trading documentation role (e.g., Credit, Risk, or Treasury) or attorney/paralegal experience in a law firm.
- Strong knowledge of ISDA documentation suite negotiations, including credit support arrangements, plus regulatory initial margin documentation and CDEA.
- Proven ability to negotiate and review detailed legal documents with high attention to detail and accuracy, especially under pressure.
- Ability to ensure consistency across documentation and know when to escalate issues.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; proficient in IT and able to adapt to databases/systems.
