PHP Team Lead (iGaming)

Location: Remote from Czechia, Serbia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Armenia, or Spain

Engineering work for a SaaS and iGaming platform handling high-load backend systems.

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and develop a team of Senior PHP Engineers.
• Participate in hiring, technical interviews, onboarding, mentoring, performance reviews, and career development.
• Guide architectural decisions and the evolution of scalable PHP backend systems.
• Establish and optimize Agile development processes, planning, estimation, task decomposition, and code reviews.
• Oversee MySQL, ClickHouse, Redis, and Kafka-based systems for high-throughput and event-driven processing.
• Own service reliability, observability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-mortem practices.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a Team Lead or Tech Lead managing PHP engineering teams.
• 6+ years of commercial PHP development experience and expert knowledge of PHP 8.x.
• Strong knowledge of OOP, SOLID, design patterns, software architecture, and Symfony and/or Laravel.
• Advanced MySQL expertise, including query optimization, indexing, replication, performance tuning, concurrency, and locks.
• Practical experience with Kafka, event-driven architectures, distributed systems, Redis, and ClickHouse or other analytical databases.
• Understanding of CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, networking, stakeholder management, facilitation, and mentoring.
