Описание вакансии
TL;DR
GSE&Test; Mechanical Engineer (Space/GSE): Designing mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and leading mechanical satellite test and metrology approach for MAIT activities with an accent on harsh-environment qualification, vibration/thermal test procedures, and SolidWorks-based mechanical design. Focus on building reliable jigs, interfaces, and measurement setups while collaborating cross-functionally during test campaigns and ensuring documentation and supplier delivery at required quality.
Company
is a Barcelona-based startup building satellite connectivity infrastructure for the New Space and IoT ecosystem.
What you will do
- Design mechanical jigs, interfaces, and mechanisms for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to support MAIT (Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Test).
- Prepare environmental test, measurement, alignment, and verification procedures for prototype satellite systems.
- Evaluate environmental test campaign results, including vibration and thermal outcomes.
- Use SolidWorks (or similar CAD) to create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for developed systems.
- Perform or coordinate thermal, structural, vibration, and environmental testing to validate designs.
- Develop documentation for proper GSE handling and collaborate with electrical/system engineers on integration and metrology approach.
Requirements
- Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in mechanical design focused on manufacturing mechanisms, structures, and jigs for harsh environments and high-quality manufacturing requirements.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD) for mechanical design and modeling.
- Proven experience designing GSE for testing applications, integration jigs, or similar mechanical structures and mechanisms.
- Understanding of high-level spacecraft design requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for interdisciplinary collaboration and technical reporting.
Nice to have
- Experience designing space-industry mechanical systems and participating in qualification/acceptance campaigns.
- Hands-on thermal analysis/simulation experience (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Knowledge of space-qualified materials and manufacturing techniques (e.g., alloys, composites, advanced coatings).
- Familiarity with spacecraft design/testing standards and best practices (e.g., NASA, ESA, ECSS, ISO).
- Experience with small satellite system development.
Culture & Benefits
- Full-time permanent contract.
- Hybrid work model and schedule flexibility.
- Health insurance and wellness support (fresh fruit in the office; possible cost sharing for bicycle transport or gym).
- Flexible compensation package with tax benefits (ticket restaurant, transportation, kindergarten) and training programs.
- Buddy program for onboarding and a flat, transparent organizational structure.
- Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, multicultural environment with global reach.
Hiring process
- Interviews to assess mechanical design/testing experience and collaboration fit.
- Discussion of relevant space/GSE projects and technical approach to test campaigns and metrology.
Location: Barcelona, Spain (Hybrid work model)
