What you will do

• Analyze and optimize slow SQL queries in MS SQL Server, including joins, subqueries, and window functions.
• Review, analyze, and improve existing database schemas used in production OLTP systems.
• Design and build new production-ready database schemas from scratch to ensure scalability.
• Work with execution plans, indexes, statistics, and partitioning to enhance system performance.
• Diagnose production bottlenecks using monitoring and profiling tools.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure efficient SQL and schema implementation across the platform.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Lisbon, Portugal
• 3+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Developer with MS SQL Server.
• Proven experience in SQL query optimization within production environments.
• Strong expertise in analyzing execution plans and designing indexing strategies.
• Solid knowledge of OLTP database design principles and best practices.
• Ability to demonstrate real-world examples of performance improvements or schema redesigns.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with SQL Server performance monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and DMVs.
