TL;DR
Journal Specialist (Publishing Development): Manage the full publishing development journey by connecting researchers, building journal communities, and launching Research Topics with an accent on editor relationship management, sales pipeline growth, and driving high-quality submissions. Focus on organizing community initiatives (workshops/webinars), supporting journal/section growth, and representing the journal at conferences to increase recognition.
Location: 3 days a week in our Madrid, Warsaw or London office, with remote flexibility

What you will do
- Own the end-to-end journey: initial outreach, opportunity development, Research Topics launch, contributor engagement, and driving high-quality submissions.
- Commission with impact by growing and managing a sales pipeline from editor engagement to publication.
- Build trust by cultivating and managing relationships with editors to attract contributions to research topics and publications.
- Represent the journal at conferences to engage researchers and grow journal name recognition.
- Lead community initiatives by organizing and presenting workshops or webinars for a community-driven journal.
- Drive development by managing processes for journal and section growth, including recruiting new editors.
Requirements
- Sales or business development experience with a results-driven mindset.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and handle high volumes of work.
- Strong communication skills: personable, persuasive, and effective at building relationships.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot opportunities and act on them.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Interest in Open Science; publishing experience is not required (training provided).
