What you will do

• Design, build, and ship backend systems for athlete-facing features from concept to production.
• Act as tech lead for engineering pods, scoping work, coordinating delivery, and ensuring technical excellence.
• Partner with product managers and designers to take features from 0→1, shaping the product direction.
• Solve complex technical challenges across the stack, including client and adjacent systems.
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and maintainability during rapid product iteration.
• Mentor engineers within the pod and across the broader technology team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional backend/server engineering experience with a track record of shipping consumer products.
• Proven experience as a tech lead, facilitating team processes and driving execution.
• Strong system design skills for large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one of: Scala, Go, or Python.
• Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Production experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Redis, Cassandra).

Nice to have

• Experience shipping consumer-facing features at scale.
• Comfort working full-stack or with client-side code.
• Familiarity with server-driven UI patterns.
• Experience with large-scale system migrations.
