TL;DR

Digital Electronics Engineer (FPGA): Developing and validating electronic systems for the Nyx orbital vehicle with an accent on FPGA design, digital interface circuitry, and radiation-tolerant hardware. Location: Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are provided for qualified candidates.

hirify.global is developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo and human transport.

What you will do

  • Write VHDL code to validate FPGA functions and design digital interfaces like CAN, RS422, and Spacewire.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to define digital functionality requirements and architecture.
  • Perform FPGA design, verification, and embedded software development for microcontrollers.
  • Manage the full test cycle, from prototype debugging in the lab to serial testing of flight hardware.
  • Create and maintain Python scripts for automated testing of hardware interfaces.
  • Ensure design compliance with radiation tolerance standards and failure tolerance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or Embedded Systems.
  • Proven experience in FPGA/SoC design and verification using Xilinx Vivado or Microchip Libero.
  • Solid proficiency in VHDL and Verilog.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, soldering, and prototype debugging.
  • Knowledge of embedded software development for MCUs and soft-cores.
  • Ability to work onsite in Munich, Germany.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with VUnit/UVVM frameworks.
  • Understanding of radiation effects (SEU, SET) and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with space industry standards such as ECSS, NASA-HBK, or MIL-STD.
