What you will do

• Build and maintain the tools, pipelines, and processes that ensure fast, safe, and reliable frontend development.
• Act as a subject matter expert in JavaScript tooling to solve complex development bottlenecks.
• Refactor and upgrade the codebase to reduce technical debt and implement state-of-the-art web development practices.
• Develop custom tooling tailored to the specific needs of Discord’s frontend projects.
• Optimize bundlers, linters, and editor plugins to improve the overall developer experience.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working with JavaScript tools and the Node.js ecosystem.
• Proficiency or desire to work with multiple languages, including TypeScript, Python, Rust, Kotlin, Go, and Swift.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining JavaScript CLI tools and packages.
• Strong commitment to writing maintainable code and detailed documentation.
• Deep understanding of the frontend development toolchain and how its components integrate.
• Must be based in the United States or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice to have

• Experience with localization in frontend applications.
• Familiarity with React Native and tools like Metro or Hermes.
• Experience writing plugins for bundlers, linters, or formatters.
