Tech Lead - Fullstack (Java)

Location: Fully remote within Bulgaria, with an option to work from the Sofia office.

What you will do

• Lead technical discussions, architectural decisions, mentoring, and technical direction for a mature engineering team.
• Design, implement, and optimize scalable backend functionality using Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL, and AWS.
• Deliver fullstack features using TypeScript with Angular or React.
• Lead AI initiatives involving chatbots, data quality improvements, dynamic reporting, LLM integrations, and data indexing.
• Promote AI-assisted development with tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and modern LLMs.
• Ensure quality through code reviews, unit, integration, end-to-end, architecture, migration, and performance testing.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, including architectural decision-making, technical leadership, and mentoring engineers.
• Deep practical knowledge of Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
• Strong experience with SaaS architecture and building or scaling applications on AWS and other cloud environments.
• Hands-on TypeScript experience with Angular or React and willingness to deliver fullstack features.
• Experience with AI technologies or AI-assisted development, particularly Cursor, GitHub Copilot, LLM integration, or data indexing.
• Proficiency with JUnit or Spock, Git, Maven, Docker, profiling tools, and production-scale system maintenance.
