What you will do

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and maintain accurate records in the CMMS.
• Perform instrument calibration and support IQ/OQ/PQ execution for new commissions and repairs.
• Serve as first-response for instrument alarms and performance anomalies, executing repairs and escalating complex issues.
• Document all incidents and out-of-tolerance conditions, initiating CAPA where required.
• Coordinate on-site visits with service vendors and maintain spare parts inventory.
• Analyze MTBF and downtime tracking to identify recurring failure patterns and improvement opportunities.

Requirements

• Hands-on maintenance experience with biological research or analytical instruments (e.g., liquid handlers, plate readers, PCR systems).
• Working knowledge of pipetting system calibration, fluidics troubleshooting, and optical system upkeep.
• Familiarity with biological safety and containment protocols.
• Strong documentation discipline and comfort working in a CMMS.
• Location: Must be based in Cambridge, MA, USA.
• Experience level: 1+ years for Technician I or 3+ years for Technician II.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with CMMS tools like Maximo, eMaint, MaintainX, or Fiix.
• Prior experience authoring or executing IQ/OQ/PQ in regulated environments (GxP, ISO).
• Vendor management and service contract coordination experience.
• Exposure to robotic automation platforms or integrated workcells.
• Ability to work in shift-based operations supporting 24/7 lab environments.
