Visual Development Intern

TL;DR

Visual Development Intern (Animation): Create visual concepts for feature animated films and TV animated projects, from concept designs to final designs with an accent on reference-driven art direction, mood boards, and set/prop/color-key design. Focus on meeting production deadlines while incorporating feedback and communicating progress with production designers and supervisors.

What you will do

• Develop visual concepts for animated worlds based on story, characters, and action.
• Build visuals using reference, illustration/drawing, and design skills, supported by 2D/3D tools (e.g., Maya).
• Work from concept designs to final designs by creating mood boards and designing sets, props, and color keys.
• Ask questions, clarify notes, and complete designs according to production feedback.
• Meet deadlines and communicate work progress to supervisors and relevant production staff.

Requirements

• Strong skills in Photoshop.
• Pursue an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree (or equivalent) or be a recent graduate (within six months).
• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Willing to work in Glendale, California and provide own relocation, housing, and transportation.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Culture & Benefits

• 10-week internship experience in a production environment alongside production designers and mentors.
• Part-time commitment: 24 hours per week.
• Hybrid schedule with in-office presence at least three days per week (and at least four days per week starting January 5, 2026).
