Clinical Lab Scientist

TL;DR

Clinical Lab Scientist (Medical): Performing high complexity molecular genetic testing on patient specimens with an accent on quality control, regulatory compliance, and accurate result reporting. Focus on executing laboratory procedures, troubleshooting test performance, and supporting diagnostic innovation in a clinical environment.

Location: Must be based in San Diego, CA (Onsite)

What you will do

• Perform molecular genetic testing on clinical specimens following standard operating procedures.
• Execute and document laboratory quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance and document corrective actions.
• Prepare reagents and complete assigned laboratory and non-laboratory tasks.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laboratory regulations.
• Collaborate with team members and management to support laboratory operations.

Requirements

• Active California Department of Public Health CLS or CGMBS license required (no exceptions).
• Experience in high complexity clinical laboratory testing, preferably in molecular diagnostics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work an onsite schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 12:30pm - 9:00pm.
• Proficiency with computer systems and comfortable working in a rapid-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with PCR, Microarray, or Sanger/NGS sequencing.
