What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS contracts and commercial agreements to support go-to-market efforts.
• Coach sales teams on deal structure, contract negotiations, and customer contract disputes.
• Advise leadership on legal risks in the APJ region regarding commercial, partner, and privacy commitments.
• Manage agreement templates, with primary responsibility for all Japanese form agreements.
• Collaborate with Privacy Legal to standardize responses for global privacy regulatory regimes, especially in Japan.
• Partner with the Partner sales and business teams to grow the business through resellers, distributors, and system integrators.

Requirements

• Japanese qualified attorney with 5-7 years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience in an English-speaking jurisdiction and negotiating technology commercial contracts.
• Fluent English speaker (C1+) with high-level written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in negotiating topics such as artificial intelligence, privacy, security, and data protection.
• Strategic approach to supporting Sales deals in the APJ region.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively across different time zones.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of professional experience or 4+ years of in-house experience.
• Deep understanding of LLMs, AI products, and related legal issues.
• Knowledge of software development, design, or product management processes.
• Industry-specific knowledge in Financial Services, Healthcare, Telecoms, or Insurance.
• CIPP/A certification or similar privacy law experience.
