What you will do
- Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS contracts and commercial agreements to support go-to-market efforts.
- Coach sales teams on deal structure, contract negotiations, and customer contract disputes.
- Advise leadership on legal risks in the APJ region regarding commercial, partner, and privacy commitments.
- Manage agreement templates, with primary responsibility for all Japanese form agreements.
- Collaborate with Privacy Legal to standardize responses for global privacy regulatory regimes, especially in Japan.
- Partner with the Partner sales and business teams to grow the business through resellers, distributors, and system integrators.
Requirements
- Japanese qualified attorney with 5-7 years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience in an English-speaking jurisdiction and negotiating technology commercial contracts.
- Fluent English speaker (C1+) with high-level written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in negotiating topics such as artificial intelligence, privacy, security, and data protection.
- Strategic approach to supporting Sales deals in the APJ region.
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively across different time zones.
Nice to have
- 10+ years of professional experience or 4+ years of in-house experience.
- Deep understanding of LLMs, AI products, and related legal issues.
- Knowledge of software development, design, or product management processes.
- Industry-specific knowledge in Financial Services, Healthcare, Telecoms, or Insurance.
- CIPP/A certification or similar privacy law experience.
