Senior Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform

Location: Bellevue, WA, United States; in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week

Base pay range: $264,000–$310,000 USD annually, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead architectural direction across storage, streaming, and data lake platforms supporting transactional, real-time, and analytical workloads.
• Design and guide distributed systems, including database sharding, proxy-based query routing, and real-time event-processing pipelines.
• Evolve streaming and ingestion systems toward near-real-time processing and improved data freshness and latency.
• Partner with engineering leaders across the organization to define platform strategy, align roadmaps, and meet reliability, scalability, and performance requirements.
• Drive 0→1 initiatives for next-generation streaming, CDC, and data-processing capabilities.

Requirements

• Extensive experience building and scaling distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in at least two of storage systems, streaming platforms, or data lakes and large-scale data processing.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or DynamoDB, including replication, sharding, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Kafka, Flink, or similar streaming and event-driven technologies.
• Familiarity with Spark, Delta Lake, or equivalent large-scale data-processing systems.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives, define long-term architecture, and collaborate across multiple teams.
