What you will do

• Design and evolve storage and database platforms, primarily Datomic, provisioning, and caching, to serve as foundations for product teams.
• Own database infrastructure at scale, ensuring performance, availability, and resiliency for very high data volumes and millions of customers.
• Enable new country launches by ensuring database architectures, configurations, and operations meet regulatory and scalability requirements.
• Ensure regulatory and data-safety compliance, including backups, multi-region availability strategies, and customer data protection.
• Collaborate horizontally across engineering teams to shape shared libraries, patterns, and best practices.
• Lead and participate in incident response for storage/database production issues and design long-term fixes.

Requirements

• Deep experience with databases, including database theory and database infrastructure (design, operations, performance, reliability).
• Hands-on experience with large-scale data systems supporting services with millions of users and/or very high data/traffic volumes.
• Strong familiarity with ecosystem technologies such as Kubernetes, Clojure, and Datomic (or comparable stacks) and ability to adapt quickly.
• Background in database administration, systems/infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or software engineering with a clear emphasis on databases and distributed systems.
• Proven ability to work in horizontal/platform teams building and operating shared infrastructure and libraries for many product teams.
• Excellent communication skills and emotional resilience for high-stress production incidents.
