TL;DR

Location: Remote (United States), with a preference for candidates in the EST time zone.

What you will do

  • Partner with Product to translate roadmap priorities into technical designs and delivery strategies.
  • Design and evolve core platform architecture across both Ruby on Rails and Python systems.
  • Build and optimize high-scale background processing systems for ingestion, scoring, and reporting.
  • Implement AI-powered features including LLM orchestration, prompt workflows, and observability.
  • Investigate production issues and improve overall platform reliability.
  • Document architectural decisions and system behavior for long-term maintainability.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the United States.
  • Proven experience as a Senior or Staff-level engineer building production SaaS or data platforms.
  • Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails, including performance and architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and FastAPI.
  • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL schema design and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated AI-first development approach using LLMs and automation tools.

Nice to have

  • Experience with enterprise or government-adjacent applications.
  • Familiarity with modern Rails frontend patterns like Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM tools, embeddings, or vector databases.
  • Experience with observability tools like Sentry or New Relic.
