Systems Software Engineer (Management Plane)

TL;DR

Systems Software Engineer (Embedded): Designing and validating low-level system software for hirify.global's first-party AI hardware manageability and health with an accent on BMC software, firmware interfaces, and hardware diagnostics. Focus on building automation infra for lab device management, owning the acceptance path for partner-delivered software, and debugging complex production issues across hardware-software boundaries.

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA (3 days/week onsite). Relocation assistance available.

Salary: $266K – $445K + Equity

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain low-level firmware and system software for AI hardware, including BMC, Redfish services, and gNMI telemetry.
• Own the integration and acceptance process for partner and vendor software releases, including code reviews and launch-readiness evidence.
• Build and maintain automation and CI infrastructure for testing and managing systems in the lab.
• Define and debug hardware management protocols across accelerators and host systems (I2C, SMBus, PCIe, Ethernet, etc.).
• Develop system health monitoring, remote diagnostics, and recovery paths for lab and production data centers.
• Convert engineering releases into manufacturing-ready software recipes and images.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in low-level system software, embedded software, firmware, or hardware diagnostics.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience with Linux-based hardware platforms, OpenBMC, Redfish, BIOS/UEFI, or kernel drivers.
• Deep knowledge of hardware/software interfaces such as I2C, SMBus, PMBus, SPI, PCIe, and JTAG.
• Proven ability to debug live hardware using logs, packet captures, and protocol analyzers.
• Must meet U.S. export control laws and regulations.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with platform security: secure boot, firmware signing, device provisioning, and attestation.
