What you will do

• Own the architectural and data foundations of the backend serving multiple frontends.
• Evolve the layered backend architecture, including controller, service, data-access, and repository layers.
• Design and optimize schemas across PostgreSQL and MongoDB for relational and spatial data.
• Own the API surface, including REST endpoints, real-time streams, and RPC contracts.
• Extend and maintain the serverless layer using AWS Lambda.
• Raise engineering standards through rigorous code reviews and clear design documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production backend services with demonstrable architecture expertise.
• Deep hands-on experience with both relational (PostgreSQL) and document (MongoDB) stores in production.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js (Express or similar).
• Experience in API contract design (REST, and ideally gRPC, protobuf, or GraphQL).
• Capability to manage asynchronous workloads, production observability, and integration testing.
• Must be based in Greece

Nice to have

• Experience with PostGIS or other spatial SQL.
• Deep MongoDB expertise (replica sets, change streams, transactions).
• AWS experience (RDS, Cognito, S3, DynamoDB) and infrastructure-as-code.
• Familiarity with Python or Go.
